CPBE Profiled on News Program, America Tonight

Constance Finley, founder and CEO of Constance Pure Botanical Extracts, was featured on America Tonight, the flagship program of news network, Aljazeera America.

The segment, which aired on January 8, was the third and final part of a special series, "A Year on Pot," examining Colorado's experiment in legal recreational marijuana. In the second half of Part 3, "The Black Hole of Marijuana Science," Constance talks of her personal struggle with a rare auto-immune disorder that led her to cannabis and how her company was born. She recounts the conversation she had with a famous doctor working with cancer patients who was dumbfounded by the improvements in her condition.

"He said to me, 'How come you're so much better?' I started shaking...I said, 'I'm afraid to tell you but I've been experimenting with this high THC, high CBD oil for myself. It's allowing me to sleep. It's allowing me to get through the day. It's changing my life. He said, 'Oh my God, everyone here needs that.'"

The segment focuses on the enormous difficulty of researching cannabis under federal regulations. Despite the fact that cannabis is legally available for recreational use in some states, being able to research it is another matter. It requires approval from four different federal agencies as well as an open-ended public health review unique to cannabis that can stall research indefinitely. Access to cannabis is another issue. Studying heroin or ecstasy is much easier.

Part 1, "Colorado Marijuana Sales: The Winners and Losers," looks at the economic impact of cannabis legalization, from the entrepreneurs who made millions overnight to expectations of tax revenues for the state and the effect on the black market, to the law enforcement in neighboring states who are suing Colorado to end legalization.

Part 2, "The Dark Side of Marijuana Legalization," explores the unforeseen consequences of adults and children who have inadvertently overdosed on THC as a result of eating pot edibles, as well as the popularity of concentrates and the dangers of home made extraction processes.
