In March, Constance Therapeutics obtained the necessary permits to own and operate a legal cannabis business – from the city of San Francisco as well as from California’s Bureau of Cannabis Control. The permitting process has been incredibly burdensome, but we are thrilled to announce that we have been granted our permits and expect to be issued official annual permits soon. The applications have been so rigorous and our team so dedicated that, in fact, Constance Therapeutics will be one of the first businesses – and likely the first – to be a fully licensed cannabis manufacturer in San Francisco, CA.
At Constance Therapeutics, we have been diligently working to secure all the permits and licenses needed to legally operate and manufacture, including permits for Distribution, Manufacturing and Non-Storefront Delivery, as well as permits with the Department of Health and the San Francisco Building Department to ensure all of our materials and lab are up to the set standards. We have passed numerous site visits and have been working closely with the city of San Francisco throughout this process.
While waiting for our permits and licenses to be issued, we were even required to pause operations for over a month. This was extremely difficult as we know that our many patients rely on our extracts for the management of serious diseases. However, the temporary pause was necessary to ensure the long-term vitality of the company and our patients. When speaking to our existing patients after the license was issued, we got an overwhelming sense of relief.
Constance Therapeutics is also compliant with all testing regulations – in fact, we have always been led the industry in product testing. We say we are “beyond compliant” – we held ourselves to strict standards before any regulations existed. Our product is being tested at the raw materials level, again once extracted, and at the final product stage to ensure the highest possible quality and safety standards.
While it has been far from easy to secure the permits and licenses, even dealing with having to pause operations, Constance Therapeutics has remained steadfast to its mission of upholding the highest levels of compliance and ethics.
