ACDC versus Charlotte’s Web

While positive public attention on “Charlotte’s Web,” a strain of CBD-rich cannabis, has done much to help the movement to legalize medical marijuana, those of us on the inside know that it is nothing new or unique to Colorado .

Over the past couple of years, Charlotte’s Web has received widespread media coverage for its ability to dramatically reduce seizures in young patients suffering from severe forms of epilepsy. However, access to Charlotte’s Web is restricted to Colorado, where it is grown, and families have been known to move there in order for their children to receive treatment.

What is much less known is that a very similar strain, which in fact appears to be identical in every respect, “ACDC” (aka Oracle), has been successfully cultivated in northern California for years, long before Charlotte’s Web came into the picture.

We have found that ACDC is, of course, as equally as effective as Charlotte’s Web. According to a review of ACDC by Leafly.com, one remarkable characteristic of ACDC is its THC: CBD ratio of 1:20, which means no psychoactive effects and high medical potential. Cannabis high in CBD, or cannabidiol, has been shown to be very effective in eliminating or greatly reducing pain, seizures, inflammation, and anxiety and is being used to treat a wide variety of conditions including arthritis, diabetes, epilepsy, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Additionally, it works in different pathways, complementing THC’s effects on the same symptoms when administered together.

Here at Constance Pure Botanical Extracts, the oil we make from ACDC has tested as high as 82% CBD and is always 3% or less THC. This has made the oil very useful to those who cannot tolerate psychoactivity in their pain relief, as well as for the animals of clients who are given the oil because they have cancer.

Patients who reviewed ACDC on Leafly reported using it for help with anxiety, migraines, ADD/ADHD, gastrointestinal disorder, and PTSD. Of its medical benefits, they rated ACDC highest for relieving pain, followed by reduction of stress, depression, inflammation and headaches. Of its psychological/emotional benefits, patients rated it highest for the feeling of being focused, followed by feeling relaxed, uplifted, happy, and energetic.

Constance Pure Botanical Extracts has been working with ACDC as our primary CBD-rich strain since 2010. Three of the outstanding farmers in our collective are committed to growing ACDC right here in Northern California, despite the inherent challenges in growing this plant. It is characteristically difficult to grow, producing low yields. Those farmers who dedicate their time, resources, and energies to growing ACDC are passionate, furthering the state of medical cannabis worldwide – and ultimately doing it to make sick people well.
